We celebrated a special milestone today - our beloved Head Cook, Robin Smith, is retiring next Tuesday on our last day of school! Robin has been the heart of our school's cafeteria for many years, serving up more than just meals - she's served love, care, and dedication to our students and staff. It's hard to believe that the same students she started with as kindergartners are now graduating, and Robin is retiring alongside them. As they both move on to the next chapter in their lives, we want to express our deepest gratitude to Robin for all she's done for our school community. Her tireless efforts, warmth, and kindness have made a lasting impact on countless students, teachers, and families. We want to thank her for her years of service and wish her all the best on her new journey. May her retirement be filled with joy, relaxation, and time spent with loved ones. Thank you, Robin, for being an integral part of our MZ School family.

Parts of the high school and middle school band visited Missouri Baptist University today to work with their director, Mr. Shane Williams before heading to Chesterfield to go bowling. Mr. Vetter and a few 7th graders had a friendly competition to see who wasn't the worst bowler. Fun was had by all.

The Marquand-Zion HS Track and Field season took a hit from all of the rain we received a couple of weeks ago! Their meets at both Jackson HS and Woodland HS were cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The Old Settlement meet at Ste. Genevieve HS on April 4th has been moved to Monday, April 28th. Despite the rain, they have been able to participate in 3 meets since their season opener at Potosi HS. Their meet at Jefferson HS was on Tuesday, April 1st. Blake Stephens and Tristian Hays ran the 400m race, and Blake also ran the 200m. Both turned in good times for their races. In discus, Kolby Stafford finished 6th place out of 23 throwers. (Jefferson does not offer javelin, and Eli Reimler Starkey was still unable to run in this one due to an injury.) We traveled to Central HS in Park Hills on Friday, April 11. Linna Lichtenegger was able to improve her javelin distance by 2 meters. Eli was cleared to run for this one, and he ran the 100m and 800m races. He turned in a good performance for his first meet of the season. Blake and Tristian ran the 200m and turned in good times, with Tristian hitting his PR of 25.77 seconds. Kolby finished in 7th place in discus. Our next meet took us to Grandview HS, where all 5 members did well. This was Kolby's first HS meet for the shot put. He did well, finishing in 7th place with a distance of 11.42 meters. His performance in discus did not disappoint either! He was able to finish in 4th place with a distance of 40.41 meters. Linna was again able to further her javelin distance by 2 meters. Tristian and Blake ran the 200m and 400m races. They both continue to improve their times for these races. Eli again ran the 100m and 800m races. He improved his times for both races compared to the Central meet. If we do not get rained out, we will return to Potosi HS on Tuesday, April 22, for our next meet. Keep up the great work, everyone! We are proud of you!
