Marquand Zion students attended a SEMO Girls basketball game on Thursday, November 5th! Students from K-12th grade got to watch the SEMO Redhawks (women) take on Miami (OH) in a "Classroom On The Court" afternoon affair. Schools from all over Southeast Missouri were in attendance as the Lady Redhawks dropped to 0-2 with a 75-52 loss. However Marquand's own Mrs Rhodes won the Musical Chair competition between quarters! Despite the loss it was a great day to be a Tiger!!

🍂 A Little Fall Magic in Pre-K! 🧪 In Pre-K, curiosity is one of our greatest learning tools! Our students recently headed outdoors for a fun fall scavenger hunt, where they explored nature, collected fall treasures, and practiced their observation skills. The excitement continued as students put their discoveries to use while creating their very own Bippity Boppity Brew! Through hands-on mixing and measuring, students explored early science concepts, engaged their senses, and discovered cause and effect as they watched their ingredients come together. From exploring the outdoors to mixing up a little magic, our Pre-K students learned that science can be found all around us! 🍁✨

🎨 Learning Beyond the Classroom! 🍂 Last week, our Pre-K Enrichment students took their learning outdoors for a fun and creative art experience! Through a hands-on process art activity, students had the opportunity to explore their creativity while strengthening important fine motor skills. They also engaged their senses, experimented with different techniques, and discovered cause and effect as they created their own unique masterpieces!

🥞 Learning was Sweet in Pre-K Enrichment! 🥞 Last week, our Pre-K Enrichment students had a fun and exciting time making pancakes! What seemed like a simple cooking activity turned into a hands-on learning experience filled with opportunities to explore, discover, and grow! Students practiced early math and science skills by measuring ingredients, mixing them together, and observing how the pancakes changed as they cooked. They also strengthened their fine motor skills through scooping, pouring, stirring, and using utensils. Along the way, students practiced listening, following directions, working together, and completing steps in the correct order. Who knew making pancakes could teach so much? Learning is always more fun when you get to enjoy the results! 🥞❤️

What a special day at Marquand Elementary! We want to take a moment to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who came out today to line the streets and hand out candy to our students during our Halloween Parade.

The number of people who showed up was truly unbelievable!

We are incredibly blessed to live and work in a community that continues to support our school, our teachers, our students, and our families. Your kindness, generosity, and willingness to show up for our kids means more than you know.

This is what hometown pride looks like. This is what community looks like. This is what Tiger Pride looks like. 🐯💜💛
