The Marquand-Zion Track and Field participants have wrapped up the regular season.
Blake Stephens and Kolby Stafford traveled to the SEMO Conference meet on Saturday, May 3. Blake ran the 200-meter dash and finished with a time of 28.59.
Kolby Stafford threw both shot put and discus. He was able to take 4th place in the West Division in both events. He was 13th overall in discus out of 35 boys, and 22nd in shot put overall out of 39 boys.
The boys traveled to Dexter, MO, on Saturday, May 10, for the Class 1 District 1 Championship. Eli Reimler Starkey and Blake Stephens both ran the 200-meter dash and finished up the season with good times. Eli also ran the 400-meter dash. Kolby Stafford competed in both discus and shot put. He secured a 2nd-place medal in discus and a 4th-place medal in shot put. His performance advanced him to the Sectional level in both events.
Sectionals will be held this Saturday, May 17, at the Grandview HS in Hillsboro, MO. He will throw shot put at 8:15 a.m. and discus at 10:45 a.m. Admission is $10 per person, and all tickets are digital and must be purchased through the MSHSAA website. Concessions are available, and you might want to bring a lawn chair if you plan on attending. If Kolby can place top 4 or better in one or both events, he will compete the following weekend in Jefferson City for the Class 1 State Championship. Come out and help cheer Kolby on to State!
