The Marquand-Zion Track and Field participants have battled high winds and rain all season but managed to attend two meets this week.
Blake Stephens and Kolby Stafford attended the Old Settlement Varsity meet in Ste. Genevieve, MO on Monday, April 28. Blake ran the 400m and 200m dashes and was able to get a personal best time of 27.89 in the 200m. Kolby threw discus and shot put. He brought home a medal in discus with a second-place finish out of 22 boys, throwing 40.21 meters. He placed 12th in shot put with a personal best throw of 11.59 meters.
Kolby returned to Ste. Genevieve on Wednesday for their Varsity Throwers meet. He beat out 17 other boys in discus with a personal best throw of 41.18 meters and was again able to bring home a second-place medal. He also had another good throw in shot put with a distance of 11.53 meters.
They will travel to Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, MO, on Saturday, May 3, to compete in the SEMO Conference meet. We wish you the best and will be cheering you guys on! We are proud of you all!
