Maddi and Brayden

The National History Day Regional Competition was held on Friday, February 23rd, at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. Students from all over the Southeast region came to compete in this annual competition in Group and Individual Exhibits, Websites, Research Papers, and more. 

This year Juniors Maddi Stephens and Braydan Homan finished first in the Group Exhibit category with an exhibit titled: The Pony Express, highlighting the growth of mail services during the early days of Westward Expansion and the country's growth. 

Maddi and Brayden will advance to the Missouri State Competition on the Campus of Missouri University, Saturday, April 27th.  If they finish in the top 3 at State they will move on to the National Competition in Washington D.C. this summer. Marquand previously sent graduate, Jack Starkey, to the Nationals in 2019 and 2020. This is the 7th year in a row Marquand has sent a student or students to the NHD State competition.
